Hilary LaConteClaremont, CA – On January 18, 2023, the CUSD Board of Education unanimously voted to appoint Hilary LaConte as an interim board member to the CUSD Board of Education. Upon appointment, she was conferred with all power and duties of a governing board member. She will fill the vacant seat in Trustee Area 4 and will serve until November 2024.

Hilary LaConte is a three-term member of the Claremont Unified School District Governing Board of Education and has served three times as President. Hilary has served as the appointed representative to and President of the Baldy View Regional Occupation Program Commission. In her capacity as CUSD Board member, Hilary served as an elected delegate (Region 23C) of the California School Boards Association. She has also served as a Board appointed member to the Claremont After School Programs Board, the Claremont Educational Foundation Board, and as a representative to the Claremont Chamber of Commerce.

Hilary works at Pomona College as the Associate Director of the Program in Public Policy Analysis. She taught for ten years at Claremont Graduate University as an Adjunct Associate Professor in Teacher Education. She has taught in Child Development at Chaffey College and was a classroom teacher at Vista del Valle Elementary School in Claremont. Hilary earned a Master of Arts in Education from Claremont Graduate University.

Hilary is a past president of the Claremont Parent Faculty Association and past Facilitator of the Sycamore Elementary Governance Council. She also served on the Board of the Claremont United Methodist Nursery School and as past president of the Curtain Raisers of the Claremont Colleges. She Co-Chaired the CHS Theatre Renovation Committee to raise funds in support of the $3 million matching grant for the Claremont High School Theatre. Hilary has served on the CUSD Science Adoption Committee and the District Faculty Council.

Hilary LaConte, who grew up in Claremont, attended Vista del Valle Elementary School, El Roble Intermediate School, and Claremont High School. She and her husband Joe have two boys, both of whom attended Claremont schools and graduated from Claremont High School.

The oath of office will be administered on February 2, 2023, in open session during the regular meeting of the Board of Education.
